Since our formation, we’ve accomplished

Our Lady of La Salette Charitable Legacy was formed by a group of relatives and lay supporters connected to the late Bishop of Morondava, Madagascar, Donald J. Pelletier M.S., and Fr. Jack Nuelle M.S.

In July of 2022, some of those lay supporters were moved to fund the building of a school in Andika Sur Mer, Madagascar dedicated to Bishop Donald due to his accidental death earlier in June of that year. Supporters who attended the school’s dedication were inspired to continue and expand the works of Bishop Donald to preserve his legacy and that of the many men and women he labored with for over 60 years.

FALL 2023: Formed our Board and developed our Mission Charter and Key Priorities.

FEBRUARY 2024: Incorporated “Our Lady of La Salette Charitable Legacy” in the State of Missouri, and registered with the Federal Government (IRS)

MARCH 2024: Developed our basic website and marketing communication plan

MARCH 2024: Established our Donor Advised Fund (DAF) using the Roman Catholic Foundation (RCF) of Eastern Missouri as a 501(c)(3) “investment fiduciary” through which our donors may make contributions and receive immediate tax benefits. Rest assured, the La Salette Charitable Legacy Advisory Board retains 100% control of these funds.

APRIL 2024: Conducted in-person launch events in St. Louis, MO (Father Jack Nuelle’s home region), and in Attleboro, MA (Bishop Pelletier’s home region).

SUMMER 2024: Formalized all processes and documentation for Grant Applications, Project Reviews and Approvals, Project Funding, and overall Project Management Plan (from start to finish).

AUGUST 2024: We have received $300,000 in donations since our April 2024 launch, with new donations coming in weekly. Developed and reviewed the first list of proposed projects

Fall 2024: Due to our donors’ generosity, our Board has approved six grant requests, namely 5 for Madagascar and 1 for Haiti. Here’s a listing of the projects.
