5 in Madagascar, 1 in Haiti

We have received $300,000 in donations since we launched in April 2023. Once we achieve our $2 million donation goal, the investment income earned by maintaining and growing our principal funds will allow us to fund a minimum of $100,000 in new projects annually.

As a result of our donors’ generosity, our Board has already approved six grant requests, namely 5 in Madagascar and 1 in Haiti.

Approved grants for Madagascar projects

Community Rehabilitation Center for the Handicapped

• ROOF REPLACEMENT: Approved by our Board in August 2024, this grant-funded removing and replacing the Community Rehab Center’s dilapidated roof, which was desperately needed for nearly three years. The work was completed before Madagascar’s rainy season will begin in December, which will make a huge difference to all using, working in, and visiting the Center
• INTERIOR & EXTERIOR PAINT RENOVATION: Our Board approved a grant request to paint the interior and exterior of the Center, both of which are long overdue. Painting the exterior will help minimize the maintenance of the building while the interior painting will brighten everyone’s day simply and cost-effectively.
• FAMILY WELCOME SHELTER: Our Board approved the construction of a Family Welcome Shelter to house families while their family members get their needed treatments. While a straightforward structure is envisioned, it will provide a much-needed safe and clean environment for family members during their stay.
• ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET: Also approved by our Board is a grant request to assist in providing the Center with an adequate operating budget for one year. Until now the Center has only survived and not thrived. It is our Board’s goal to offer enough financial assistance to the Center to improve and enhance its current operations.
• ANNUAL PAYROLL ASSISTANCE: Our Board approved the grant request to assist in providing the Center’s annual payroll. This is critical for the Center to deliver excellent rehabilitation work with its talented staff and to attract new staff to enhance its services. Without the financial resources that Bishop Donald was able to provide during his lifetime, our financial assistance is desperately needed.
• YOUTH SOCCER JERSEYS: In addition to funding these projects, in November, we shipped more than 500 brand new soccer jerseys to Madagascar. The St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club donated these jerseys in hopes of encouraging and creating fun and learning for Madagascar children by playing soccer and looking like real soccer players in these jerseys.

Approved Haiti project

• GRADE SCHOOL DESKS AND SAFETY RAILING: Our Board approved a grant request to fund desks for students and teachers as well as metal safety handrailing for a newly constructed grade school. The students and teachers have been attending class without any furniture, and until just a few months ago, there were no protective railings on this 2-story school building.
