Stamps for a plane
One of the many interesting stories Fr. Jack, who was a pilot, told during the launch event was that of familes and friends connected to the La Salette missions across the United States coming together to collect S&H green stamps in exchange for an airplane for the mission in Madagascar.
Back in the 1960s, grocery shopping or at gas stations S&H Green Stamps were part of a rewards program. Customers received stamps for their purchases, which could be redeemed for products in a catalog. Stamps were collected in books.
S&H Green Stamps heard that the mission was looking for a plane and they contracted with the mission and said collect 4,000 books and we’ll give you a plane.
There are 1,200 stamps in a book, that’s 4,800,000 individual stamps! It only took 6 months to get the airplane.
It’s that same dedication to help in any way we can, like collecting stamps, that is the foundation of this Charitable Legacy.
